ROLL UP YOUR KEYBOARD AND TUCK IT IN YOUR SHIRT POCKET
You can really do it with the G-Tech Wireless Fabric Keyboard for Smartphones and PDAs. The keyboard is thin, rolls up like a sock and is Bluetooth-enabled so you don't need wires. I think the price is still too high - $129 at Compusa and more elsewhere - so I'll hold off on purchasing this item for a while. But it is a cool concept.

GOOGLE SPREADSHEETS IN ACTION
Google is taking on Microsoft Office with the introduction of Google Documents and Google Spreadsheets. You can now create word processing documents and spreadsheets online and then save them in your own private area. You can also publish them online through Google and collaborate on the documents in a work room environment. I just tried out the spreadsheets program to create a new O-1/P-1 chart of organizations providing consultations for those kinds of cases. I converted the chart to an Acrobat document and have posted it. I've done that mainly because I don't want to make it super easy to cut and paste the work and pass off to others - at least not until it has been up a while. You can see how it looks by going to our main blog.

DUAL SCREEN CELL PHONES?
One of the reasons I stopped using my iPaq PDA phone and switched to using a bluetooth Dell Axim x51v and a Samsung 920 EVDO bluetooth phone is because all of the PDA phone devices have been shrinking their screens down to a size I consider useless if you're a serious PDA user. I read books, do real editing, take care of expense reports, etc. on my Dell and a decent size screen is critical. On every new Windows Mobile 5.0 phone device I've found, the screens have been reduced to make them look just like the Treo. Hate that trend and hate that I've had to take a step backwards by going with two devices!
I saw this interesting new phone at Engadget that's not available in the US and probably won't be for a while, but it does provide an ingenious solution - a slide out second screen.

MY NEW SOLIO CHARGER
I've finally received my Solio charger. This little gadger weighs almost nothing and uses the sun (or an outlet in the wall) to charge for use as a portable battery for your phone, MP3 player, PDA, etc. David and I wrote about this cool gadget earlier this year after attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I tried to buy one after the show, but the product wasn't yet available. Finally just got mine and will be taking it with me from now on every time I travel. The device will set you back less than $100. I got mine at J & R Electronics for $80.

CONVERT VIDEO FILES FOR YOUR IPOD OR PDA FIVE TIMES FASTER
ADS Tech has released a new gadget that looks like a USB flash drive and converts video files and home movies on your PC to a compressed format for your handheld device much faster than the conventional way. A 100 minute video can be converted in 20 minutes compared to the normal five hours. The device retails for about $80, but I found it at Buy.com for $50 if you use Google's new checkout service.

GOOGLE MOBILIZER MAKES ANY WEB PAGE PDA FRIENDLY
Lifehacker gives a great tip about a useful Google tool. Google Mobilizer converts a web site that is not PDA friendly to a web site that can be read on a small device. Just go to http://www.google.com/gwt/n and type the web site address you're trying to see.

BELKIN ABOUT TO GET ALL THE WIRES OFF YOUR DESK
David Jones and I saw a sweet little device at last January's Consumer Electronics Show that is only just coming out - Belkin's wireless USB hub. The device allows you to plug all your peripherals requiring a USB connection in to this wireless hub. You then plug a little transmitter dongle - hate that term - into the USB port on your laptop and - voila! - you're in business. No more wires going everywhere on your desktop and no need for a docking station (unless you're using it to plug into something like a monitor or keyboard (though even those can connect wirelessly to your laptop. Aside from ending the clutter, I'll be happy to be able to be able to work on my laptop from away from my desk and still be able to print and have access to my external portable hard drive as well as my PDA without having to actually have all of those devices plugged in. The Belkin hub retails for $199 - a little pricey for a USB hub, but worth it in my opinion.
